The sudden cold spell for a few weeks in Jan-Feb coupled with a heat wave brought out the blooming en masse of the Saracca spp., a common riverine tree in wooded areas around Raub. Though short-lived, the blossoms are spectacular in its myriad of yellow-orange hues and a subtle vanilla perfume that invades the jungle air.
