From 5-7 July 2013, the City of Besançon was on "braderie" - an occasion for vendors to get rid of their excess merchandise quickly and to help with the economy in troubled times. Usually, each shop gets to "brade" or hock their stuff cheaply at the end of the summer sales but at the middle, it certainly raised more concerns than happiness (I was told so in the street). What happened was the streets were actually choked with outside vendors, transforming the whole town into a pasar malam. Almost every other vendor was either selling cheap, glaring clothing item or food, just like in Malaysia and for awhile, I felt like too...
Who in their right mind would wear fluorescent coloured dresses in polyester?
This is an exception, the boulangerie made more than usual its tasty offerings and tempted the crowd...
Nice selection of artisanal bread...
