J'ai deux amours...a retropix of a winter in Paris 2005

The famous American cabaret singer Josephine Baker made Paris her 'home' in one of her songs: J'ai deux amours (I have two loves)...and went on to say that mon pays est Paris (my home is Paris). Well, that pretty sums up what Paris can do to people when they know her well enough.

Here are some pictures from the past that I have taken from my first long visit to Paris in the winter month of January 2005. I visited for the first time this enigmatic ville to find out for myself just what is it that made millions come. I stayed at a friend's apartment in the Parisian suburbs and we had to take the bus, train and metro to visit the city but it was one of the most memorable visits...from the guard at the Notre Dame de Paris who told me to take off my hat in the church to watching jugglers in the park and making the queues with other tourists like me to catch a glimpse of the famous La Joconde, everything only falls into place after the visit itself. The effect of a longing to revisit the place develops and calls to you when you least expect it...
